I can get an iBook for much cheaper at MacConnection, but it only has a 1 year warantee. Is it ultra-super-highly-critically recommended that I get a three-year warantee?

Well, personally, I've never had to use the warranties on any of my macs. And I'm a believer in the fact that if something is going to break, it probably will in the first month. It if works fine for a year I don't think you'd have problems after that.

So, no, I don't think a warranty is worth the extra money. But mac parts are expensive to replace...so it's a gamble.

you can still extend the warranty as long as you are within the first year, so i say wait. if you decide to keep it longer than a year then buy the warranty. i plan on selling my iBook to upgrade it within a year so i'm not getting the warranty on mine.
