The sound on my G4 is ****ed.
1- When I log in, my soundsticks/isub don't work. I have to go to the sound pref panel and reselect it in order to get them to work.
2- When I plug in headphones, I have to change the sound output to internal sound controller, instead of the computer doing it automatically.
3- When headphones are plugged in, the volume controls on the keyboard don't work, though the mute one still works fine. The only way to adjust volume for the headphones is to go to the sound panel and do it myself. Even the control in the menu bar doesnt work.

Anybody have any idea what could be wrong?

try completely unplugging soundsticks/isub, and see if that fixes your headphone problems.
also, what comp do you have?

Dual 1 ghz. The computer is under the desk, and its really inconvenient to unplug the soundsticks.
