    It's not that, I'm just like... "Why would you spend valuable time searching for cheats just to beat Apple's crappy Chess game / parallel of Microsoft's solitaire?"

    The server will be down tomorrow, Friday, 02/22/02

    Some of my friends are having a lan party and they will be borrowing my 4-port switch/router and my 5-port hub. The downside is that they scheduled it for a time when I'm working, so I won't get to play. That also means that I will not be able to set it up. Since they are all much less experienced in technology than I am, I seriously doubt they will be able to get anything to work.

    Without the router, I will not be able to connect to the internet. I do not know if they will be able to get me my stuff back before Sunday, so the server might be down until then.

    I don't know if anyone will miss it, but I wanted to alert you peeps.

    I've started to transfer files to CDs. I am trying to only do big files, so the small, quick (as quickly as possible with my slow connection) files will always be available. Also, I uploaded the LotR screening copy I have to Wulf's server for better download speeds for you guys.

    Looks like Jake never told smack about the ST:E eps...

    I don't have any (read: that I know about) warez on the server.

    copies of TV shows are legal AFAIK, as long as it is not available to buy (DVD or VHS) and it is not a direct copy of that media.

    I am trying to get a dynamic dns address so you guys don't have to use the trackers. Right now, use the address spockirk.dyn.dhs.org for connecting. I am working on another address that will also work, but I'm having some trouble. the other address is spockirk.dhs.org, but it's not working yet.

    is there any way to control the upload speed on hotline or carracho? when i start an upload it milks all my upstream and jacks my whole connection. if i could limit it the speed then it would be fine.

    I know there are programs that say they limit bandwidth for running servers, but I don't know if that would work with the client.

    If you want to upload, just set it up right before you go to bed. I assume you don't sleepsurf

    Well, I'm going to buy Jakeman's old computer, but I'll still keep my iMac that the server has been running on. I'll just continue using it as a server. No one should notice any change, except that the server will stay up even when I play Deus Ex or watch movies in presentation mode. (actually, no one will notice any change because no one ever uses the server anyway)

    What's the difference between using the Mac OS X and Mac OS X server if you are only using it on 1 computer, or is there a difference?

    oh OOOOOH I went to school for this one :)

    Mac OS X Server has more GUI options for setting up things such as DCHP serving, FileSharing, etc... The only thing you can't do in OS X that you can do in server is NetBoot and Macintosh Manager... Other than that...

    Okay, I'm <finally> trying to figure out how to use Carracho.

    Lemme guess how to do this:
    File-> New Connection
    Address Field:spockirk.dyn.dhs.org
    Login: mscguest
    Password: N/A
    <enter>

    I tried that but it gives me a DNS lookup error when I finish. If I'm doing anything wrong, please tell, but if I'm not, well then, please tell also.

    I've managed to get onto other peoples servers but they all boot me for not having any uploads or sharable files or something.
