Well we had a baby today, which brings the total up to 19 now. (15 girls and 4 boys) I think that this is getting to be a bit much, but my mom seems to enjoy it so I help her out :p Probably have the last baby tomarrow so it will be another busy day. This is one reason I haven't been on WoW lately. The other being that the patch takes forever to get with dialup :(

Do you raise them as a hobby farm for slaughter or just as pets?

We got them when we moved up here several years ago because my mom has several friends here that raise them and she found that she likes them too. We breed them and will (eventually) sell them. She also takes them to llama shows around the country for shows and wins awards. Last November she took one to nationals and it placed 2nd for its class.

Do you slaughter and eat the ugly/inferior ones though?

I don't think anyone eats llamas in the US. They are pack animals that also produce wool. Lots of people around here have just one or two as pets.

I always thought they were for eating.

Heh, if that was only the case where I live. Most of the friends my mom has have at least 20. Some have upwards of 60. Still waiting on the last baby becaue it is a week and a half late and counting. Though I think it is trying to balance out the force since the last one was 2 weeks early :p And no, we don't eat them. Although I threaten to let the dogs have them when I get mad sometimes :D
