Okay, my father is having problems with his computer. He has a Power PC G3 (IMac) running Mac OS X 10.1.5. The problem is...something is wrong with his keyboard. Whenever he types in any application, the letter come out wrong, usually as symbols. When he types a number, they come out as symbols, but not the symbols you would get if you pressed shift. However, when he does hit the shift key and a number, it comes out correctly. Does anyone know how to solve this problem or what might be the cause? He can't use his keyboard at all because all the letters come out wrong! He says that he didn't change anything in system prefs and that he didn't change anything in any applications. Help!

maybe the option key is stuck. An easy thing you can try is to plug in another keyboard and see if you still have the problem.

as jake said, if you've got another keyboard, try it. if it still comes out funky, you've probably got another keyboard layout selected. go to system prefs: international: input menu and make sure U.S. is the only one on.
also, i strongly recommend upgrading to 10.2.
