I have an Ibook with a 500 g3, 128 ram 15 gig hd and a 24x cd rom. i was wondering if it was possible to purchase a new internal cd drive with dvd and cd-rw capabilities, or just cd-rw capability. if so how would i go about doing so, or am i limited to buying an external cd burner? but it would be much preferd if i could get an internal, with school and stuff. any sugestions?

it is very hard to find components for iBooks, and even harder to install them. i recommend getting an external firewire or usb burner. if you have a firewire port then get firewire.

There's a few options for internal combo drives, but if i were you i'd go with the Toshiba SD-R2102 if you want plug 'n play, or the if you want a little extra speed and dont mind altering your disc burner extension file.. get the SD-R2212. Apple uses Toshiba drives in their books, so the front bezel should fit just fine.
