    do some research

Nobody watches Hentai in Japan, it's barely distributed there. Hentai is purely for American 'slugheads.'

No, Disney Cartoons are not for Americans per se, and even so, Disney is quite different. First off, Disney is international and therefore makes international themed movies (movies about little Chinese warrior girls and African Lions) that are distributed by themselves through their chains all over the world (ever heard of Euro Disney? Disney in Chiba Japan)?

In Japan, there is social order and structure, which means you aren't allowed out of your boundries too much. Sure, there are a few cartoons for adults, but that's true in America too (South Park, Simpsons).

Don't jump to conclusions about what other people know. I used to know somebody who was hooked on Hentai and I helped him get away from it, so I know perfectly well what it is. I was pointing out that there are some things that are made in an Anime style that are certainly not for children but for adults.

Thank you. You have just admitted that not all Anime is for children and that some is made for adults.

I don't like Anime myself. I personally don't like the style of the animation, and for me that is enough to turn me off. I'm not saying anything about story or characters.

If people like Anime, then they do, and I let it go. I don't like Anime, and that's that.

The anime you all watch is intended for children, demographics show they're seen mostly be children. All these "adult" anime don't exist in the states.

Anime is genreally not even exported from Japan (that's why most of the real anime stays in Japan), that's why compaines such as ADV popped up, to cut down on fan subs and distribute it for real.

There are only like 15 major series in the states, I keep hearing the same ones over and over and over (Evangelion, and BGC and all of that).

I don't just watch anime that has been released here. Because of the internationality of the internet, I have access to almost any tv show aired anywhere.

Lain, Kenshin OVAs, Vampire Hunter D are all examples of anime geared to an older audience.

You can't limit it to that though because most real fans watch their stuff through imported subs. A true fan has access to everything that is being in Japan. You are only speaking of the stuff for the masses that is churned out now and then.

I used to watch Anime years ago but now I only watch the occasional one but I do know that people with Satelite, net access and/or a phone can get anything they want. This isn't about how much Anime is here, it's about whether or not there is adult oriented Anime and if it is accessable over here. The short answer is yes, but of course in lesser quantities than in Japan. That the nation that gives birth to the animation has more access is hardly surprising.

I don't think anyone but 4 year olds watch the crap anime they show on TV. I even saw one channel flipping yesterday that was about extreme spinning tops or something.

I just watched Hellsing. It is cool. They could have an OVA or a sequel series. there's a lot that they could still do. like explain what's going on!!!

I recently bought DVDs of my favorite anime series, Rurouni Kenshin. I bought the first episode DVD (eps 01-04) and the last episode DVD (eps 91-95). I also bought the first OVA DVD which is called Samurai X - Trust & Betrayal.

This is in addition to my extensive  DVD anime collection that consisted of the complete set of Record of Lodoss War and Animatrix. woo hoo!

A good short Manga film is "Blood". Intense, action packed and beautifully done. I've seen most of what has been talked about here and they are all good suggestions. Just get started their is plenty to see.
