Does anyone know anything about it?
If I just want a wireless connection between two computers, is an accesspoint neccesary or can it be done with just two compatible network-cards?

I prefer the way my wireless connection is setup. I have two access points, with one of them set to bridge mode. I have them all tied down so they can only communicate with eachother. It is basically a wireless patch cable.

And in this case you mean two accesspoints as one network card in computer 1 and another in computer 2 and no router or similar in between?

No, just two access points, no wireless network cards:

    Code:
    			intarweb

    			modem / router
    			   |
    			hub
