You're doing battle on-line when suddenly you see it... The unit that you hate to do battle against most. Which one is it?

    Necromancers be scary :(

Kinda depends what race I am, but for every race but human, necro = scary.

heh, why is raider even in the poll? scary how fast he dies to anything that shoots back? :\

A couple raiders in your base while you're attacking the main forces and your base loses a few buildings. If used properly, (hit and run), they can be damaging.

Can you imagine having a force of 12 raiders hit your base when your main force is attacked by their ally... You would have no money left to rebuild... SPecially if they hit your peons...

Yeah but steam tanks hurt more coz they can mass on you and demolish your base easier. Fortified armor and 700 HP is much better than ~500 HP and medium armor.

Night Elves have a solution for this- the Ancient Protector has seige damage so if u wall them of with moon wells you can stop a tank mass

I have a great replay that I gave to Jake where my ally demontrated how much the Undead HATE steam tanks- they just run through a base tanking hits from towers, then BOOM there is nothing left but a few acolytes and ghouls...

Jake could you post both of those replays I gave u ?

I agree, while raiders are a threat, steam ranks are even worse. (I had already voted steam.)

Human cannon towers are even better vs steam tanks, doing siege damage also.

I hate necromancers more. Steam tanks I can deal with because they're expensive, but when you can raise an army out of thin air it gets me somewhat nervous. My preferred race is Orcs, so it's not as much a problem as it probably could be, but it still bothers me.

    Raiders. Not Scary.

I use raiders alot for slaughtering buildings during big fights, I like their ensnare ability too, they are really fun to play with, but they arent scary, they die REALLY REALLY fast to anything that fires back, its pathetic.

I once ensnared a crypt fiend and 3 of my raiders were pounding him, raiders started out full health... one of them was killed by the crypt fiend before it died.

Raiders just arent a scary unit, it doesnt take many towers to keep them out of your base... now... steam tanks... ::shudder:: THATS scary :\

One of the best games I played was against two undead players, they used nothing but Frost Wurms, Crypt Fiends, and Meat Wagons. Wurms to stop my defenses from working, Crypt Fiends kept snaring any air units, and were vicious on anything that was ground based, and the Meat Wagons made short work of all my bases.

    Re: Raiders. Not Scary.

You obviously haven't seen raiders used to their full extent then. They are to be used when enemies are not around, not nessesarily in combat.

The Raider does about the same damage as the fiend and has about the same hit points but he has heavy armor. Heavy armor takes %50 more damage to the piercing attacks that the fiend dishes out. Raiders are not meant for combat against fiends there are meant for hit and run when the enemy is not at home.

Steam tanks are still far superior for destroying buildings though.

None of them. Computer generated sprites in a crappy game don't scare me at all. The fact that so many people actually enjoy the game does.

I still think raiders suck. Why make hit and run attacks when you can just rush your opponents base? That's what the game is based around, rush, not hit and run.

In 1v1 games (ladder), rushing isn't as effective as in games where you can team bang somebody. In any case, there are plenty of moments in just about any game where you will be out creeping or fighting some guys army and leave your base open to attack from another group. If you think the game is all rushing then you're only counting the general newbs. Pro games tend to go beyond the early rush.

Generally you'll usually just see head on attacking. SC saw that but featured more sneak attacks. Probably due to more transports and the time people had to practice with tactics in that game.
