make sure that you first backup your files from OS 9 and make sure that your HD is in the HFS extended format... then and ONLY then install OS X over that... NOT formatting if you don't have to... then classic should work okay.... otherwise you may end up with the same problems as me

One small warning to those with beige g3 machines you can not install os 10 over 9. I know this is in the documentation but I wanted to make sure it was heard. By the way OS X runs great on a G3 233 Beige. Omniweb kicks internet explorers butt too!

It has java script support but even ie for os x doens't do java correctly. Omniweb is slated to have full java support using the java 2.0 that os x comes with.

    1) Don't install OS X over 9 unless you're mad. GO buy an ATA hard drive, they're cheap.
    2) Download norton DiskDoctor trialware and fix all the errors on your os 9 HD or else your os x copy won't detect the os 9 system software.( I found 24 minor errors and 6 major errors on my HD-"So that's why it won't detect it!")
Apple disk Utility won't be able to fix or detect most of these errors.
