My Radeon just keeps getting delayed. I need a better graphics card for next week's LAN party. It looks like my Radeon won't arrive until the 25th of Oct. Is the Voodoo 5 any good? Any better performance now that new drivers have come out? What kind of frames do you get on 1024 medium settings in Q3? Any other performance examples? ------------------ lamo mac boy
I know, I know. I'm just getting this buying urge before the LAN. Anything but my stock card! My brother thinks I'm crazy too. I probably won't do it. ------------------ lamo mac boy
If you've got a couple thousand $$$ on your lap, sure, go buy one. If you don't - let me put it this way, don't get one.
I wish I got my Voodoo. The Radeon I ordered hasn't come yet!!! ------------------ This guy is literally a pain in the ass.
HAHAHAHAHAH Voodoo 5 5500 kicks *** ... my friend has a pc radeon and his Fps maxes out at 45 fps at 800x600 and he has a Ghz PC... my fps maxes at 98fps with one bot on a medium sized lvl with all the settings cranked up and the size set at 800x600 ( and it looks soo sweet too ) But other than that... sure go with a radeon... just don't be surprized if your fps never gets better (knowing ATI's famous "support") I know that my Voodoo 5's performance can only get better after they get around to optimising the darn thing for the macintoshes bandwidth... (my only real compliant, but they are working on it) ------------------ Okay I pulled the pin... NOW WHAT?
45fps at 1024 x 768? That's what the Mac Radeon benchmarks are saying (48.6 to be exact). Where do you get your benchmarks? All the reviews on the internet I've read don't match up with your numbers. ------------------ lamo mac boy
Hey Jakeman If you get one or the other, let me know. I need someone to be the guinne pig and test these cards before I buy. I want the Radeon but I'll get the Vodoo if it works better. ------------------ If girls didn't have tits we'd throw rocks at them!
Well, I am using a G4/400 with 384 meg ram... I messed with the bus speed ( I wouldn't if I were you, I almost killed my computer... ) And, my friend (as I stated in my previous post) is using a Ghz Dell PC, custom made with the retail ATI Radeon... in Quake3 his fps seemed to max out at that... even when we turned all the settings to "bondi-blue imac" I just thought that you all would like to know that... oh yeah I had 4xFSAA on, and he had 2xFSAA on(or whatever the PC Radeon allows)... he even has the 64meg DDR version of the card... supposedly the fastest one... ------------------ Okay I pulled the pin... NOW WHAT?
Depending on the game, Windows 2000 will only use half the graphics card sometimes. Just a thought. ------------------ lamo mac boy
...Half of a 1 processor card... that would be a no-processor card... then he wouldn't get any grafix acceleration at all... ------------------ Okay I pulled the pin... NOW WHAT?
heh wassamatter... cat got your collective tongues?? ------------------ Okay I pulled the pin... NOW WHAT?
half of one is one half, not zero. It just doesn't utilize the full capabilities of the card. (so i hear) All the benchmarks are way different then what you're quoting for performance. It must be an issue specific to his computer. The 32MB Radeon is performing twice as good as it's 64MB brother when looking at your numbers. That's the 32MB MAC Radeon mind you (keeping in mind that Macs are bandwidth limited when compared to PCs). The numbers just don't add up. ------------------ lamo mac boy
I know they dont add up, which makes it soo funny... He just today installed Windows ME... (uggg) and it runs much better... ------------------ Okay I pulled the pin... NOW WHAT?
the true test is under Win98 where most games run their best and have full support for the OS. ------------------ lamo mac boy
