    but is it a standard that is recognized in all drives? that's what matters the most... to me anyways. looks cool tho.

    Only recognized by other ML drives. It's mainly for back-up, like a tape drive. It's just waay faster (2GB in 6 minutes). It might eventually be able to be read by other drives, but it would have to be a feature in new drives, I don't think the compatibility will be added with software, probably a different kind of laser.
