I have a dvd and I'd like to take some sound excerpts from the dialogue. Anyone know how, like with what kind of program? It's not for anything illegal... just personal use.

Speaking of DVD rips, I have a question-

I got the LotR extended edition DVD trilogy set last christmas. I wanted to host a 12-hour LotR marathon at my place with some friends. I hate changing discs, so I was wondering this:

Does anyone know of a tool to rip the six DVDs, and join the movie files into one glorious 30gb, uncompressed video? I play all my videos from my computer so I figured i could take advantage of my HD space. I had a program to do it at one point but I couldn't break the copy protection.

It's all for personal use, of course. I don't know anyone crazy enough to torrent a 30gb file.

it's extremely difficult to join the raw VOB files... the easiest way is probably just to rip to DivX/MP4 using something like Handbrake and then join them using QuickTime Pro. oop, just noticed you have a PC... uh, the method still applies, i just don't know what applications you'd have to use.
