I believe you, I think it could be done.
I don't think you're lying, well, in a manner of speaking. You said I had no idea of the level of skill that they're at, but I've seen the best the game has to offer. It's not actually that high above us. I'd say skill doesn't progress in a linear trend, but in plateaus. There's a few key tactics that players will acquire over time, such as the level of aggresiveness that's needed in any game, it's a balance that you acquire an ear for. A few key steps that it takes to be the best. I would think everyone here knows all the units and their abilities inside and out, after this it just takes a more general knowledge that is applicable to any race on any map, that only comes with experience.
I'm speaking very abstractly, but my point is that although they or other players may be very good, don't let their aggresive micro control intimidate you, it will come with practice.
I too think it can be done. In most instances where it is done though, you'll find players on the opposition team of widely varying skill. A team of all moderately skilled players vs. one master could probably get it done.
They'd still have to be extremely new at the game. Unless they were all slow ass builders and the one guy sent two zerglings to each base and killed off their scvs, drones, probes. That's just lame.
I agree it's possible vs newbies. But if the six players had any degree of skill it would be impossible.
The players were of regular skill levels and had been playing for at least 2-3 years each. I think what made the difference was the extreme skill level of the one player combined with the size of the map, knowledge of the map.
It did happen, they were of regular skill and they were trying. This isn't open to theory, it's the way it was.
I don't. I suck.
Well, you're new though, it comes after not too long, it's pretty easy since there's not that many "spells". Most people know that Ghosts and Wraiths can cloak, or that Queens can Spawn Broodlings, or that High Templar can cast Psi Storm. This stuff comes pretty easily after only a short time.
I thought Elbereth played last year in a game or so. Maybe it was somebody else.
Either way, they died REALLY fast.
I died yesterday in a comp stomp with Wulf and Cao (umm, i thought I was aiming for the 'o' and 'w' keys but that sorta happened, it's pronounced the same way, so it stays ).
they rushed me with m and ms (thats narine-medic, right? or marine-metal?)
edit- it's early in the morning, i'm tired, and i need to go to school. Just leave my typing errors alone.
I played in a game or two, but haven't played at all since. I bought it for that clan game, so I hadn't played before that either, except I did the first three or four Terran missions in the single player game.
yep, I remember elb in a game a while back. He sent out a few small groups of infantry, then cow found him towards the end of the game.
Well after Guru got plowed and Cow bailed... I left and relized that I need practice... and bad... so when is the next game?
Saturday. See the posted event and thread. I want to start humans vs. humans very soon too...
Molesters armed with multiple sclerosis?!!? (reference # 101359)
Too bad i dont got brood war... guru
Then you haven't played very much.
Uh. They only go battlecruisers all the time if you only play money maps. The terran comp will only go battlecruisers if it owns like three command centres in expansions. Otherwise they stick to lower level stuff.
I've seen people mass BCs on non money maps plenty of times. You forget that I used to play Starcraft 16 hours a day. All it takes is one regular sized expansion to build 18 battlecruisers.
No, you did not
