Would anyone be interested in a tutorial course slightly more in-depth than the Boot Camp mission in Single Player ;)? I could write some strategy and play 1 on 1 with people to get them better. I kind of bailed when aleld asked me for help, we played a few games and then I totally forgot to do all the other stuff I said I would do, but with a larger audience it would be no problem.

At one point I was good enough to win competitions but I'm not that interested in SC anymore. Too many years spent on it. Playing lots of old school platform games now.

I want to learn better terran tactics. All I would ever do in a game is play protoss and use the cannons. Skrew teh troopz.

I might go to some, depending on when they are, and what they'll cover.

Well, I'm still pondering it. I'm definitely going to organize a few clan games to guage turnout before putting pen to paper. Not that I'm a master either, I need the most work with Terran myself...

Terran need lots of micromanaging. You need a few tanks, mainly goliaths, a science vessel and some infantry if you want for a good attack.

reavers and goons. Not bad, but toss drops are hard to accomplish. Their units are big and shuttles are slow. But if you can pull off a reaver drop into their supply line, you win.

No, it's quite possible on any map. All you do is build a cruiser now and then while playing regular. Eventually you have a fleet. My Korean friends and I play SC from time to time and BCs get used on occasion. It's only called a newbie tactic because new players tend to use it. Totally valid unit choice, abeit a rather boring one.

The Toss shuttles are only slow if you don't upgrade them. Most people making use of shuttles for more than one quick drop should get it. Fastest transports in the game.

Of course it's valid. But only when you have a few and use them for long ranged destruction with yamoto while backing them up with other kinds of units.

Having a rush of twenty battlecruisers is a newbie tactic.

I seem to remember you using that tactic in a game a while back... where aleld had a ton of goliaths to counter you. :p

Yes, I remember that one. It was my first clan game with MSC and cow massed tons of BC and owned everyone with them.

Where is the logic in calling it a newbie tactic? I rarely use it myself but it's a strategem the same as any other. People only call it newbie because it's a one unit strategy and it's quite powerful if used properly.

Half the "newbie" things on the net really aren't newbie things at all, just stuff that morons call "newbie" to belittle players that use semi-common tactics. People just fall in and accept that it's a "newbie" tactic to look like they know what they are talking about.

To say that you can only use a few of them for Yamato is sad. Why do we have to use only a few? The game doesn't limit you to a few battlecruisers and they do have another good attack besides the Yamato. Even the cinematics show huge BC fleets. I have seen pro players shift from certain units to mass BC on rare occasion when it would hurt the enemy. People also mass tons of Zerglings from time to time. Often you see a pro zerg player use nothing but Hydralisks and a few defilers. How is this different from all BC and a few science vessels?

Of course it's more skillful to use mixed units but it isn't newbie to use mostly one unit type either. It's just another way to play. I certainly prefer to use mixed myself though.
