Speeding Up OS X

    Main thing they don't mention is that OS X ships with the root account disabled by default. To activate it, you have to drop into the terminal and type:

    sudo passwd root

    At the prompt. It'll ask for the password, then you can %su and continue from there. I'd say there's a 30% speedup from 10.0.3. I put my swap partition on a seperate 12 G drive in the first 500Mb (540, multiple of 80). Try it!

    It sounds like it will take a decent knowledge of Unix to be an OS X power user. Interesting...
