nef is common.
OMFG, Jake your little dude avatar is bleached! Now he looks like me .
I found a magic socket great maul with 5 sockets and 1-26 lightning damage. I am going to socket Honor in it and whoop up If anyone can spare any of the runes for honor, if you have extra, or anything, I would be much abliged. I am on east now though.
Azrael - I'm pretty sure rune words don't work in magical/set/unique items, even if they have enough sockets for a runeword.
I'm not 100% sure though, but if I were you I'd test some crappy magic item (shop for one - sockets is a magic prefix) with a cheap rune word before using the Sol and Amn on that weapon.
I made honor in a 5 socketed Phase Blade last night thanks to jaha It is very nice, and I also got some nice necro stuff last night like a +2 necro skills sheild (unique) and a rare +2 skills ammy for necros
i love LoD, so much new wealth...
The areat summit states that the item must be a normal (non-magical) socketed item. It will not work. You will get the bonuses for the individual runes used, but no rune work will form. I though about that on a socketed magic claw I had. Won't work.
Found a Shae last night in NM, ACT III
(along with a Twitchthroe)...
which brings up a question for Olon that I have been meaning to ask (and probably would be better posted in the weapon speed thread).
Which would be better in the long run:
To socket the weapon one is using (assuming a rare, decent speed weapon) and plunk a shae in it or to socket the twitch and put a shae into it.
I've been thinking about this for my jav/spearazon. I have a decent dam fast speed yari, twitch, a Shae and a socket quest that is burning a hole in my pocket.
oh, and Gil. Don't you ever check your messages man?
private messages. go to your user cp -> edit options -> display popup for new private messages. it works great.
only if the person who you are sending them to ever checks them.
lemme go check.....
"Shae" only increases weapon speed when you put it in a weapon. In armor/helm it boost hit recovery, and in a shield it boosts block rate.
The way to boost atack speeds with sockets outside the weapon is with jewels bearing the 15% increased attack speed modifiers (appears on magic jewels only). So far I've made a 25% IAS twitch with one, and also a 15% IAS Tal Rasha's set death mask (dual 10% leech and IAS - yum).
Shae in a weapon, however, gives you a 20% increase (you might have noticed while speed thread that using percentages is somewhat innacurate). For zeal/WW/strafe/fury/smite/jab/fend/frenzy or anything else that gets a speed boost from the skill itself, having the weapon itself be fast (socketing a "shae" if the modifier wasn't there already) makes a big difference.
Getting back to your actual question - it probably makes more sense to socket and gem/rune items that you're not likely to replace soon. You can always make a cheap low level character and rush them to act 5 for a free socket, but that takes some work and if the weapon you're considering socketing is magic, it's best to save a hell difficulty socket quest to maximize your odds of getting 2 sockets instead of 1 (note: this might just be superstition - but for getting max sockets in normal items hell socket quest is the way to go).
forgot that shae worked differently for armor, silly me.
That being said, I do have a 15% ias jewel that Lurk graciously gave me that I could plunk into a socketed twitch (though he gave it to me so I could plunk it into my 2 socketed sword of Ali Baba ...), I did have the parts of the equation, I just presented them wrong.
And don't think that I've forgotten about that.
Payment due and payable weekly, compounded my the millisecond.
oh, you mean that wasn't repayment for the necro circlet I gave you a couple weeks ago?
Huh? Wha? Necro circlet? I know not of what you speak..(cough, cough)...
It is nice to hear that clan members are sharing items. This is what being in the clan is all about. I am so sick of people hogging all drops and making requests of others while sharing not a thing (I see this too often on b.net). It make the game a bit more fun!
