Lately I've been playing D1 quite a bit. Started a MP sorcerer, got him up to level 30 now. I must admit, I am having fun with it, once I got over the no running. Even found some decent items, Naj's Light Plate, Aguinara's Hatchet. Even installed it on my iBook so I can mule via Airport/Appletalk. I do back my sorcerer up, but other than that I have been playing totally legit.

There are some things about it I like better than D2: spellbooks, the cryptic shrine names, some of the monsters are cooler, and overall it has a better feel I think. Yeah the graphics are dated, but the game is still fun. Funny thing is, Blizz just opened a D1 forum on the Battle.net site, so maybe there is still a bit of interest in the original.

So, anyone want to join me for some old school fun? A good game of D1 might be cool.

It's a fun game, much more gothic and dark than d2. I enjoyed it quite a bit and it doesn't need to be ported to x since it runs fine in classic.

    I'd play, fun fun

Well, I will probably be on playing D1 or D2 tonight (Saturday), on my mac_Lurk account. If you guys want to start up new characters I will too, since my sorcerer would just own normal diff at this point. Plus you can be hurt by friendly fire in D1, so some low level chars would probably not fare too well against Chain Lightning. My sorcerer's a bit of a loose cannon. :D

A very nice Night Clan just added a Constricting Ring to my collection, right after I gave him a fireball in the face. Now if only I could find one of those in D2.

Unfortunately they do not drop, and even if they did only hell Baal could drop them.

Still, the D1 version is nice, takes care of all your resists in one fell swoop.

Yeah I did that a few times too. :D Actually if you're in serious trouble it's better to kill yourself because you won't drop all your stuff.

I am finding kick ass items all over the place. Red Vex (one of the uniques in Laz's room) dropped the Demonspike Coat, and Adria had a Bountiful Staff of Apoc in stock, which I bought for recovery runs.

Yeah I do that too, but if you die in the middle of a big room in the caverns, it helps to have a back-up plan. Besides, Apoc is a fun spell to cast. Bountiful Apoc staves are serious cheese, but what the hell, I'm just having fun.

A couple high level novas wouldn't do any harm either.
