ok heres the deal, one guy has a dell, one guy has a gateway and I have the iMac. me and the gateway get along, and we share files and a printer and such. the dell guy is an arsehole and fugs up the network printing and such. is there a way to password protect file sharing so that we can continue to share out stuff, but require a log on when we wanna connect to the certain folder? And perhaps elaborating on the process too...

Who says I know how to do it? Also you don't need that comma.

You asked if there was a way. I know there's a way because I've used networks set up like that but I wasn't the one that set them up.

Well, it depends on how you have your network set up physically. If you have the printer hooked up to the mac and you share it from there, it shouldn't be much of a problem to set up appleshare (or whatever) to require password access based on your users file. If the printer is hooked up to the network independently of the PCs, that's a problem.

    ie Good:

    Printer
    |
    Your Mac
    | |
    Friend Dick

    Bad:

    Printer
    ____|_____
    | | |
    Friend You Dick
