So, I got a computer from my friend.

    Dell OptiPlex GX270
    Pentium 4 2.4GHz
    128MB 400MHz DDR SDRAM
    40GB HD
    32MB on-board VRAM

I need more memory and probably a new video card. Since CompUSA died, I have limited physical stores to go to for parts. Since it's already really outdated, where should I go for upgrades?

Actually Best Buy might have parts for it (right next to where CompUSA was). I personally buy most computer parts online from vendors like newegg.

That's pretty much the way it is for RAM, though -- the older the tech, the more expensive it is going to be. You can try crucial.com. They generally have pretty reasonable prices for RAM.
