There are way less alcoholics in Europe than North America because of their lax alochol laws.

its not that you can't drink it, or will get stomach problems from it....most people just cant fully digest it. I dont feel like going into all the chem crap, but babies and people of nordic decent just have an enzyme in their system that allows them to fully digest dairy while other people pass it through. Also, there is a type of animal that is similar, i believe it is goats, but i might be wrong. (hm...does this equate Sweds/Norwegians with goats!?!? )

    (...just joking kraahl)

That´s basically what I said minus the stomach problems. You are probably right though.

Human babies are SUPPOSED to drink human mother's milk. That is not the same as cow milk, but it is close enough for our purposes. Lactose intolerance is a condition that is not normal, just liek diabetes (well, not entirely like diabetes).

Actually it is normal. Not the severe kind where babies can't drink mother's milk, but where adults cannot tolerate milk. Every single mammal on earth except for humans are weened off milk at a very young age, we are the only mammals that continue to drink it.
Everyone should be intolerant as an adult, but in populations that had cows/goats/etc.. which they domesticated and used for milk they underwent selective pressures favoring lactase in adults. Milk provides lots of fat (energy) for the northern populations and would help them through the winter. Evolution at work.

Populations where they didn't domesticate animals for milk would have much higher lactose intolerant populations, which is true as that article showed Asia to be just one case.
