infantry i tell you. infantry pwnz all.
Speaking of C&C... How is Generals Cow? Worth buying?
my friend in the beta loves it... says it's the best RTS he's played.
C&C tiberian dawn was better than red alert kthx.
tiberian dawn is the original right? the original owns.
CHECK OUT MY OLD C ANC C PAGE
Yes, and tesla coils weren't in the first one.
It's garbage. Netcode is absolute ****. Just like all the other westwood games.
The C&C story line beyond the original is so crazy anyway, you might as well treat them as stand alone games.
I still don't get what the hell all is going on, except that in the Red Alert games in the past the USSR is trying to take over the world; and in the original it's some time in the near future where the NOD terrorists are also trying to take over the world but the GDI (NATO / UN?) is trying to stop them.
Can someone please summarize the story for me?
Westwood also hasn't made the C&C games since red alert. Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun, and Generals were all done by outside companies. Maybe that's why every C&C game since red alert has sucked ass.
Also it constantly pisses me off how crappy the games are when released. They've all sucked ass, had horrible netcode, retarded story, bad acting, new and stupid changes to the games and unoptimized features that rape your computer (red alert 2 superweapons).
Haha, the weather-control lightning storm of lag!
that word has become way too generic. it's used to descibe everything now.
Lag is used to describe the time waiting for an event to occur. The response was lagged.
it's also used as an excuse far too often
So for our second topic change, what should we call computer-related latency?
Network latency has long been dubbed "lag" in every internet game to exist. However in the more recent years, programs have arisen that stress the machines they're run on to a point affecting all persons in an online game. A perfect example would be how Starcraft will stutter, or experience chopiness, when one player's computer can't handle the game as well as others, whereas lag simply causes the infamous "lag box" to rear it's ugly head anywhere from occasionally to all the time depending on the amount of latency.
What do we term this computer "lag" of low FPS and memory-activity stuttering?
not to read into it too much or anything...
But lag is applied to describe high network latency, not the other way around. If you don't like lag being used then just tell people to say, "My ping is so high".
but it's also used in place of things like "my computer is too slow." that annoys me
Still, technically the computer going slow is still "lagging" in the sense that the word lag fits. It's just usually reserved for connection issues rather than graphical/cpu ones.
I can see how that would be annoying if you're wanting people to be specific as to which "lag" they are talking about.
Lag is also a commonly used term for an excuse as to why you died in CS.
"This game runs sweet on my T1. And servers are cool on t3 lines."
"WTF LAG!!!. MY CONNECT IS SO SLOW WTF."
