go to the server... There's a mac version there. I might have a pc version somewhere as well. this does not bode well for the HL community.

for a ported program, it still crashes less than carracho. :p

I still like HL. It was my first filesharing experience, and the first one is always special. I also like the file searching ability at www.hlsearch.com; I would like to see that for carracho.

there's still KDX and Carracho, so I'm not that sad. HL has deteriorated into a banner/pr0n transfer system. C & KDX are still new and have not been corrupted as much. I still like HL for the server program. there are more things you can do without logging in (the stat display, broadcast, server settings). less crashes than C, although I've never had KDX crash. KDX is still very new and doesn't have a lot of the features the others do (the log system sucks).

Just because the company is going away doesn't mean the hotline server and client will dissapear.

there are a few third-party clients still being released. I saw one on versiontracker yesterday. there's always pitbull. The gubmint will have to shut down all trackers, and that's not going to happen. even if the tracker shuts down, there's still connecting straight to the ip. It will never be able to be regulated like napster.
