Remember how a while ago I said my dad was working on an OC 768?

He finished it. AMCC now has the world record for transmisson speed, 40 Gigabits.

That, according to him at least, is enough to transmit every bit of data transmitted over the net since 1992 in 7 hours.

    WWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!

    jealous?

works for me, sometimes the animated smilies stop on a single frame, that's prob what happened.

Dagoremaster, where ya been? What kind of cable does the OC use (I'm thinking that oc stands for optical cable, but i could be wrong) and what kind of degradation of the signal is there over long distances? How long until this service is available to consumers at a reasonable cost (like the cost of dsl now)?
