So, we left to go to Barnes and nobles and office depot on monday evening to get books and toner for the printer, and when we came back the fire department was at our house, which was fully engulfed in flames. I have'nt had a chance to post about it for all the crap we've been going through these past couple of days. What's today anyway? Thursday? The fire took until wednesday morning at around 2 to finally stop smoldering. After the insurance guy came out, they brought out the fire investigator and he figured out what it was. When we moved into the house my mom gave me her old dryer. It was fine for a while, but then the wiring got screwed up somewhere along the line and neither of us noticed it. The wires behind the dryer sparked and sent fire up the wall behind the dryer and into the garage/laundry room, and then into the attic, and the the rest of the house. We have a smaller guest house we are staying in right now that we had to clean out b/c of smoke/water damage. The worse part about this is we did our own taxes, and had records in there since 2000, not to mention birth certificates, social security information, Heirlooms, our dog/cat. But I guess were pretty lucky to still have a roof over our head and each other's love. Oh, and my g4 was in the shop when the fire happened. :) Wish us luck.

That's awful. It's my worst nightmare to think of coming home to a scene like that. The dog/cat part would really get to me.

And remeber to get as much as possible out of the insurance company. They are bastards anyway. You could say your G4 burned and get a new one then send the old one to me.

    :(

At least you're all ok. Except the pets, or did they get out? Stuff can be replaced, but it's still a real hard hit I'm sure. It'd be awful to lose everything, you don't think about it much, all the stuff that's non-replacable (like pictures, family heirlooms..)

Very sad, but at least you're ok.

House fires suck...sorry man. An old dryer almost burned down my house a few months ago as well. Lucky my mo m was at home so we were able to catch it before too much was destroyed.

hmmm... really sorry to hear about it. The loss of material items is devastating, but at least it happened while you were away and not while you were sleeping...

You have your health and eachother still... (sad about the pets, though...) Items can be replaced, and after all of the shock and rebuilding takes place, probably will be fun (all new stuff!!).

Makes one wonder about keeping older applicances... hmmm..........
