Supposedly the next WoW expansion will be announced tomorrow at Blizzcon. The most likely expansion is the Northrend continent, since the models and textures are already in the game files, but I also read a rumor that it's the Maelstrom area (between the two existing Old World continents). Maybe both.

There are lots of rumors. Diablo 3 is also a possibility, along with a completely new game.

www.worldofraids.com posted the work of some internet detectives confirming "Wrath of the Lich King" as the expansion, as well as some murmuring about playable death knights

True dat, and it ruined that game. They shouldn't roll out any hero classes until they can roll out all of them.

It sounded to me like anyone can roll a deathknight once they reach a high level. It's a new class that becomes available to everyone for a reroll, not a specialization of an existing class. Maybe I read it wrong.

Yeah I wasn't sure if it meant converting your existing character or rerolling a new character. Sounds like it's a new toon. Questline is "similar in difficulty to the Warlock epic mount questline."

Not sure how I feel about adding new classes at this point. Next thing there will be 9 million death knights running around.

I hope this doesn't come out for a really really long time. I am just now starting to gear up. I would hate it if as soon as I get some nice gear, it all becomes obsolete. I'd like to actually use it for a while.

If itemization is not fun for you then don't do it. Every content patch devalues past accomplishments and introduces another itemization grind.

Im pretty sure they ment cast time.

I wonder how that will work, if you lower the cast time by say .5sec does the damage stay the same ?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Current cast time buffs are not consistent in that regard.

    Here is an interesting thought...

Death knight is a hero class. Does that mean it's better than regular classes? One would think so considering it's an end game class requiring high level players to complete epic quests. In that case they are basically devaluing not only our items but our classes which is kind of lame.

If it's not a superior class then it seems strange to make people work for it, especially since it represents a reroll / regrind after grinding out your original character and epic quests to access the class. All this trouble for a novelty class seems strange.

No matter which way you roll it, this implementation of a hero class seems strange. I think hero classes should really be subclasses that extend existing classes at the high level.

I don't mind the fact that all my stuff might become obsolete someday. I just want a chance to use it before it does.

that would be a huge undertaking and would shatter what remains of game balance. introducing them one at a time as separate classes allows them to spend more time attempting to prevent another warlock situation. this way they can make the hero classes more unique, rather than adding 2-3 new abilities to existing classes which would diminish "heroes" into extended talent trees.

but i do agree that one at a time sucks. wtb blademaster. :noid:

Hero subclasses don't have to be exclusive to specific classes. That would avoid much of the rebalance issue. It's still messy, but no less messy than the current implementation. I'm not sold on the idea of hero classes this late.
