Not exaclty sure, but he would just boot up in Os 9. Pro Tools is all he used his old mac for. He bougth a seperate computer for email, word prosscesing and other stuff. He is currently cracnking out some Radio spots and a just finished a new CD. If I remeber it was the Four Seasons on original instruments, or Hydan.

New Macs won't be allowing booting in OS 9 and Jag doesn't either. He could always do without those I guess.

I though that wasnt until 2k3?

Plus you can just reformat with OS 9 only. OS X is on the way.

on 2k3 macs that won't work... it's a boot ROM thing (or, will likely be)

Santa Fe Pro Musica. A local classical group that uses original instruments.

OS9 won't see the most recent PMG4 revision's ATA100 bus, and therefore it won't see any hard drives.

Perhaps, but does that way currently exsist or is it being worked on? That's the question.

Either way. R.I.P. OS 9. You sucked.

how? 8 was more stable, more compatible. 9 only brings classic compatibility in, and I never use it. I always boot into 9

Pro Tools for OS X will be oh so nice, but man someone from Apple's Human Interface group needs to go down there and slap those guys around, that plain grey background looks awful in Aqua.

For me OS 9 is more stable than 8. And for more so than 7. I used to use 8 on my G4, I use 8 on a Powermac 8500 and 7.5.3 on my dads Qudra 6500. My computer hasnt crashed in a month.

it was my experience that OS 8.6 was faster and more compatible. OS 9 just killed performance in certain apps and broke compatibility with several older programs.

What do you expect when a new OS is released? Nothing is oing to be running tip top, the developers havn't had their hands on the final code ot make an optimized program.

If you install Jaguar you can still boot into OS 9. What are you talking about?

Only new macs after a certain date wont be able to boot into os 9 due to the code being removed from the ROM. Apple wouldn't stop existing macs from booting into os 9. That would require a firmware update and a dumptruck of stupidy from apple.
