I don't know if this is the right forum to ask, but...

Anyone have any good sites that can describe basic Macintosh and Macintosh-PC networking? I used to remember this stuff when I left Macs, but it was very basic AppleTalk.

ouch, such a broad subject. I've never seen a good tutorial on the net. I would go with TCP/IP networks. Then you just set up a local HL server and connect via the IP (great for file transfers.).

I really don't care much for LAN parties...our computer club bans anyone w/ Macs (yeah, not a very nice group). I basically plan on sharing an internet connection through a PC server, probably running on Windows NT or 2000. So I need to configure gateway and client IPs and the Mac. Well, it's already configured, but I need basic knowledge to keep it maintained. Hope that clears up some stuff, but more information wouldn't hurt.

simple. Apple Menu (top left), Control Panels, TCP/IP, put in the IP, subnet, DNS, whatever info is relevant. Or you can set it to DHCP if you're running a DHCP server. TCP/IP is complete platform independant. Just put the numbers in.

Computer club doesn't ban anyone with macs, its just that noone has a mac good enough to play any current games.

What about DaGoreMaster? He has a good mac but does he go to computer club anymore?

Thanks Jakeman, I didn't realize there was a TCP/IP control panel.

Dagore doesn't go to computer club because he can't go to LANs since his computer is a family computer, and thus he can't bring it to a LAN.
