I am planning on buying my first mac system this summer, so I would like to have some comments from your guys, which buy is more valuable. I'm aiming at the powerbookG4. I just read a review on PBG4, here is the address:
    http://www.macworld.com/2001/03/16/pbdiary.html
and it troubles me a lot, especially in the value section:

According to the following facts, I would like you to answer the following question: is it better for me buy the 400mhz PB or the 500mhz PB.

    Facts: classed in priority:

    Most prior:
    Doing schol work
    Playing Diablo2
    Surfing the Web
    Watching moovies
    Moovie editing
    Photoshop editing

Misc facts: the AltiVec thingy "But if you don't have AltiVec-savvy software, you're back to G3 speeds."
the upcoming OSX "However, I may change my opinion on the performance if I change my OS: all of OS X is Altivec-enabled at its foundation."
    I am financially limited.

if you don't understand my message, please take a look at that mac world review from the link up there.

Please be a little bit more explicit when you say yes to this or no to that...

    Thank you all very much

for what you're doing 400MHz will get you by. A 500 is ideal though. I speak from first hand experience. I have a 400MHz G4 tower. I play D2, do photoshop, web authoring in golive, pagemill, and frontpage, quake 3, etc, etc. It serves me fine. The only thing extra MHz would give me is slightly better frame rates in my games. Either model is going to be a Photoshop monster. Schoolwork, web surfing, and DVDs don't even stress your computer. It's the games that should be your concern. Diablo 2 should run fine on the 400MHz though.

    I thought I told you

Well I thought I told you I am considering myself as a prejoined or a semi joined and I will do whatever possible to get my mac.

Remember you send me a E-mail after my registration. I thought I warned you.

Well what is done, is done. Please excuse me for this misunderstanding.

    Definition of sama

Sama is a ending word in japanese which is place after the name of a king or a great person.

For example: Onisama stands for Majesty Oni.

Oni is the name here and sama is the ending word. That's the main aspect of the japanese ending word.

So Jakeman sama is to show respect to Jakeman

    urm, close.

    erm, not always.
Better to describe it as a honorific or respectful "suffix".

For example: Onisama has a few different meanings, depending upon pronunciation. Three that I know of.

1 honored older brother or big brother
    2 demon lord
    3 ghost or spirit master

Of course, it is possible that I could be getting incorrect info from my buddy who's living and teaching in Japan right now. Then again, the japanese language is so blasted complicated and flexible we both are probably right.
