Hey fellas, I gotta question for you...

Here's the situation. I need to use a G3 Tower with OS X to serve up files to some PCs. Do you have to be logged in to share files? I enabled file sharing, but how do you share individual folders? Is there any way besides putting files in the public folder? Thanks in advance...

It would be so much easier to run a hotline server on them. Or an ftp server.

I've never bothered spending the massive amount of time required to get file sharing working between macs and pcs.

I also think a hotline server would be a good idea. Very easy to set up.

KDX might be better, I have problems with HL in X. KDX is still being worked on, HL has been stagnant for a while

That might have to do with Big Red X going bankrupt a year ago.

But yeah, KDX is under development while hotline is not. There are some third party clients for hotline that are better than the official client.

    Hotline isn't an option.

I thought OS X used samba, so it was easy to transfer between PCs...

10.2 does, although it's not all that reliable IMHO.
