So I've decided that I am sick of working for others and would like to start my own business. Problem is I dont have any ideas right now. Anyone have any ideas? I've been working for different corporations so long I am about to have self induced suicide using a pencil. (joking, dont call the men in white) Anyone else ever feel this way?

Well what skills and experience do you have? And what are you interested in? I can't speak from personal experience. The only thing I ever did was work as a waiter, but it was great. You learn social skills, meet people, learn about food (assuming it's not a fast food dump). If my personal ambitions never work out, I'd could see myself working in restaurants until I gain enough experience to open up my own place. I have heard, however, that opening restaurants is tough. But tell us what you know.

I am reminded of a movie where some guy is being interviewed. They ask him questions about his objectives and interests. He says something like, "I have some money, I like it, I want more of it."

I forget the name of the movie.

    :D

It's not money I'm after really so much as hapiness at this point. (Well money doesnt hurt any) As for interests and things of that nature......I have to many. One of my problems is I cant narrow it down. I enjoy writing so maybe I'll give that a go. I've heard fantasy and sci-fi novels are hard to get published because so many ideas have been used; it's hard to come up with something original. Sorry I cant stay long on the forums, I'm at work.

gotta do something that you are interested in, plus there has to be a market for it. You have to be a serious go-getter. Working fro yourself usually means working twice as hard to get the business going..

You should also think of something that you already have some contacts in... It really does help if you know people who are in the business who you can market towards, work with, etc...

Once you work for yourself, there is no going back... I have been doing it for the last 2 years now (freelance graphic design, book publishing). Much happier, more free time to spend with the family, and more money...
