Disclaimer: jake = IRC dumb (in teh face) :retard:

Currently i have an IRCD running on my server. I am hearing from many people in the know that a moderately busy IRCD running on the same box as the web server can really slow down the web sites being served cos the IRC server hogs so much resources. so i'm looking into alternatives. are there places where i could sign up for an IRC channel and pay monthly or something? or are there free ones? ...do they suck?

i want to leave room for growth for my site. i'm afraid that the IRC chat could be a burden on the server if traffic ever picked up.

Quakenet. Go there, make a channel called macsubculture, put 4 ops in it, and go to #feds to ask for a Q bot.

If you need more help: ICQ 43288600

I have a channel there. Two in fact. Q works like a charm.

Um...no. If Jake was to set up an IRC channel I'd do it on DALnet. Much larger network and more reliable.

I don't see how a larger network could be of any help to jake.

But more reliable, that's good to know :). Not that I ever got kicked off of QN ever, even while I'm idling on it all the time, but I could just be asleep during the lagspikes :)

Any free to use bots on dalnet? Cos that's important as well.
