when i leave my battery in while my iBook is plugged into AC i notice the battery slowly drains. yesterday it was at 100% and showed as running on AC. now it says 98% and shows as charging... but it doesnt' charge, it just keeps slowly draining and says it's charging.

One of our's just started doing that, too. Could it just be that the battery died?

nah, mine isn't dead. it runs off the battery for a few hours, then i plug it back in when it's almost dead and it charges back to 100%

that means the battery is dead or the charging board inside your ibook is dead. it's almost always a dead battery.

hmmm, last night my iBook's battery was at 95% and said it was charging. it has slowly discharged over the last week and has said it is charging but doesn't charge. this morning i woke up the iBook and the battery says 100%. maybe it has to get down to 95% before it starts charging or something.

My powerbook 100 battery is dead. But I'd probably have to spend like $500 to get a new one for it since it's such an old piece of crap.

My Compaq laptop does the same thing. This helps keep it fresh:

Leave the computer on until the battery totally drains.
    Charge it to 100%.

Rinse and repeat 3 times each month.
