I'm sick of AltiVec, the thing does jack for real world stuff since there's probably two applications that have optimized code (Photoshop and the OS itself).

Having the OS optimized for altivec is a very good thing, not to be sneezed at. sure i'd rather have 2GHz chips, but if you want just one thing altivec'd it would be the OS.

Its a rumor, may or may not be true. I dont know about the whole thing, but to say it wont be apples next chip because not altivec doesnt make much sense to me. That seems a little quick of a judgement. The part about where Apple said no to IBM I dont trust, i want words from the horses moth, Apple.

Apple sticking with Motorola is a bad idea. I think Moto is ran by a bunch of jr. high students who spend most of their jacking off to porn and playing Quake, instead of designing good CPUs.

Hey, I'll run Motorola the way I want to, so don't question my business tactics.

we still don't even know if apple will use these processors. it's like saying, "ooooh, 2.8GHz P4. that will be good for mac!" :wtf:

Except in the article it says (yes I know - I don't believe everything I read) that Apple and IBM are working on these particular processors together to be used in Macs.

    :P

What if they keep the name Power 4? Will we all be using P4 1.8 GHz machines then? :p
