I am now the owner of a windoze box. This is my first non-Apple computer ever. Intel gave it to me, so now I just have to find a place to put it (no comments).

It's the counter-strike box. That's about all they're good for.

A lot of us have Windows boxes here, good God the OS gets old fast, but once you're in a game there's not much difference.

Wait a sec, does it have a Pentium 4 in it? Surely even Intel knows how bad that thing performs, it's like the Celeron rev. 1 blunder.

It is a PIII 1GHz. There was an option to get a P4, but I would have had to pay extra for it, and I wasn't going to do that. I did upgrade to the 19" monitor, which I am now using with my Mac :).

No matter how you look at it, it's free. Free hardware that is current can never be a bad thing. And like it has been said, you are now completely compatible. Can't beat that. The 19"er must be nice.

Do what my brother did, set it up as a honeypot. He has a lot of people trying to hack his sites, so he got tired of that and put together a system and set it up outside his firewall. Then, in lieu of a hard drive, he burned a bootable CD with his website files on it and set up the machine. He sits back and laughs now as hackers try to get into the system to delete the files... Bwahahaha!

    lol I like it.

Yes, the 19" is great. They also gave me a HP950 printer, a web camera, speakers, etc. I could do without the 56k internet service though. The box is an HP Vectra VL400, whatever that is. :D It has a Matrox video card of some kind in it, but does have both a DVD and a CDRW though, so it is not too bad. Like you said Moose, Free is good.
