Apple joins AMD, API NewWorks, Cisco, NVidia, PMC-Sierra
Sun Microsystems, and Transmeta as a member of the
HyperTransport consortium, a group that will promote
    HyperTransport technology. HyperTransport will make
chip-to-chip data transfer rates 48 times faster than
current technologies. HyperTransport technology may find a
home in computers, networking devices, and communications
    gadgets.

Good, AMD's processors are better then Intel's, even if they are x86.

Nothing at the moment. Everything's rumored.

It could be as little as an Apple Interest that will bring nothing. Or apple implementing hypertransport into the new g5s. Or apple switching to AMD chips, or Apple using more nVidia chips...

I think AMD developing the G6 and beyond is a very real possibility. To be honest I have more respect for them then for IBM or Motorola (sick huh? ;)), so for them to take over being Apple's chip supplier would definately make my day/month/year . Not sure about Apple using more of nVidia's chipsets, their graphics line is already nVidia-exclusive. That and a new ATI-based API (to replace RAVE) are what I'd really like to see, provided ATI gets in on this technology for their boards too.

True, but the whole game won't be first-person, at least that's what it looked like to me.
