Killing wild animals for sport and then justifying it by eating them is still lame.

Seems more fair than slaughtering a trapped animal for beef. At least they have a chance. Either way, I dislike hunting.

Stock animals are raised specifically for that purpose. The natural environment can't handle losing animals to hunting. It's all ready losing enough to other causes as it is.
You don't need to kill and eat wild animals. Go down to the store and buy some meat there.

Actually that really depends on what you're talking about. Some animals are in pretty high numbers but lots are in danger. Like I said I don't like hunting. I think it sucks.

    hmmm...

The problem with your reasoning Cow is that the "Natural" Environment of animals within much of the USA and Canada has already been royally messed up by tbe presence of humans. Many of the things that would control populations of things such as deer aren't present anymore. ie Natural Predators. It is a vicious circle.

I think hunting is pretty useless but there are a lot of things that are just as useless and people still do them. I do see a distinction between hunting and eating the things you kill and just hunting to kill.

    Re: hmmm...

Yes, but where do hunters go to hunt? Into the areas where there are lots of wild animals. Where the populations haven't been influenced by humans. So they're just furthering the damage. It's completely unnecessary.

Actually, the majority of hunting in the US is done on farmland. The deer population is so high that thousands die of starvation each year. There are no natural predators of deer left in the farming areas, so they just keep breeding.

I went deer hunting once; I carried a stick and a camera.

I go hunting. I have no beef with it since animals have no rights and only a sentient soul.

Well that's fine. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm takling about ecological impact on the biosphere. You're talking about religion and animal rights...

Humans in general are superior in that we have a rational immortal soul as opposed to an animal's sentient or a plant's vegitative soul. Why bring racism in?

Abuse is bad of course, since we are custodians of His creation, but there's no problem with moderation. Humans do not overhunt in sport. If we ever overhunt it's for excessive food or goods (can you say Japanese whaling?).

Point. I was talking more to Jake anyway. Love to get him riled up with religion, that way I can bring out all the silly "different standard of knowledge" stuff.

you mistook my sarcasm for racism. racism is lame, i was using it to intimate that your comment was equally lame. you declare yourself to be superior and go on to say that killing of lesser life forms is justified because they are inferior. and to make things worse your criteria for superiority / inferiority is based in religion. IMO you are no better than the alkaida terrorists for having that opinion.

    but that's me =\
