i'm 90% decided that i'm gonna sell my G4 tower and buy a new 700 iBook.

    the specs:
    G4 400MHz (sawtooth)
    320MB RAM
32MB AGP Radeon (original was 16MB Rage128 Pro)
10GB HD, 30GB 7200 RPM Maxtor secondary HD
    DVD-ROM
all the standard ports (it does have a 56k modem)
currently has 10.1.4 and 9.1 on it
it has a couple months of CompUSA warranty left on it. everything is working fine, never had problems.

i was thinking i could get $400 - $500 depending on the person. what do you think? give me your honest opinion on what it's worth.

I've seen them on eBay going for $600-650 without the Radeon (which I want!).

macs are expensive gaming machines. pcs are much cheaper price for performance in games. i've decided i'm gonna do my gaming on my pc and get an iBook for my mac. i will be using my iBook for school this next fall... no more individual spiral notebooks for each class, just type it all. i can type 10x faster than i write too.

the iBook will be able to do some games though (like d2 when i need to login twice to transfer items).

    geez, $600 to $650???!!!

yep, my pc is gonna use it. then i'll hook up my iBook to the second VGA input on the back when i have it at home. :korean:

if you are thinking about buying it keep in mind you can extend the compusa warranty if you want. 1 additional year is $99 i think (starts from date of purchase, so you want to buy it just before the current warranty expires which is on July 23, 2002). it's called naked TAP. just make sure they put the computer's serial number in the comments on the receipt for the new TAP SKU (it avoids complications later). personally i like to assume the worst... i assume that on July 24 the motherboard and processor will fry and it will cost $2000 to fix out of warranty. that's my way of thinking anyways. =\

normally i wouldn't want to sell it to a friend because it could cause weirdness between us if something went wrong with the computer, but since it has some warranty left it's all good.

oh, also know that compusa sucks :p . hardware failures are covered under the warranty but their turn around time sucks and since they fired me i think they are shipping out all their macs to the pleasanton location to get fixed (unless they are giving David Chin more hours, he's apple certified too). so, ummm, yeah

i applied to 3 computer places. i had an interview at one, macdaddy, where i worked before compusa. it's under a new owner/manager now. i left because of the old manager, this new guy is pretty cool. i'm almost positive he will offer me a job. he is calling second interviews early next week. i'll know then.

    Coolio.

I've picked up your attitude towards the old MacDaddy management from what you and SpocKirk have said about it :p.

Yeah, I was thinking of maybe checking out MacDaddy for a job again, too. My only wish would be that Amy left too. For some reason, I just don't like her.

You had a problem with Rodney? Is Tim the new owner (and who the heck is Tim)? Does John still work there (hahaha)?

I'm there, dude. Is he going on a major hiring spree?
Ooh! maybe he'll actually keep it up to date with new software and hardware! Since you have all the certs, are you going to go with doing repairs and upgrades? Or will that be a factor in being hired?

on my resume i just put "re: employment". during my first interview we were talking tech positions. so yeah, i want to do the repairs and upgrades. but if the tech position doesn't work out i'm gonna inquire about a sales position.

i'm not sure how many people he's looking to hire. i know they are looking to hire at least 1 more tech though... eric is all alone in the tech shop i think.

eh, I don't know if i'm qualified to work in the tech shop. I guess I could be an underling to you guys or something. I know some stuff, maybe I'm just selling myself short. I worked sales a little bit while I was doing inventory.

//edit: I do know more about some things than some of the peeps that used to be techs. Like about the iMac HD partitioning problem. I just don't have any certificates or anything
