Thanksgiving weekend is the largest amount of time off I get from work during the year. last year I went south to L.A., this year I am going north to Canada. I forgot to tell everyone I was going, so I've already come back from Vancouver, B.C. and am now in Seattle. I'm going to the Space Needle and the Sci-Fi Hall of Fame/Music museum today, then it's on back to Portland. It's been fun so far, but there have been some... unexpected events.

Anyway, I had a question for you Canadians. The traffic lights blinked sometimes, instead of staying solid like I'm used to. does that mean something? The only time traffic lights blink where I live is late at night, only the red light, and that just means the lights are treated as a stop sign

Some lights blink here in Virginia. They all mean different things though. What color where they?

In BC blinking green lights mean pedestrian controlled lights. So the light will always be blinking green unless someone hits the crosswalk button and then it will go red.

Blinking orange basically means four way stop, right of way rules apply, use caution.

Blinking red means four way stop.

Were you here during the foggy temperature invesion?

I spent most of my Thanksgiving driving:

Annapolis to New Smyrna Beach, FL: 860 miles
New Smyrna Beach to Universal City Walk: approx. 60 miles
Universal City Walk to New Smyrna Beach: approx. 60 miles
New Smyrna Beach to Annapolis: 860 miles

    Total: 1840 miles

Going to work after driving 15 hours? Priceless.

ps I should have taken today off.

aha! I don't remember if I drove through any blinking yellow lights, oops.

it wasn't that foggy. there was lots of fog coming up on wednesday/thursday in oregon/washigton.

I haven't looked at the odometer, but it was more than 2000 miles round trip. I took today off.

everyone was wayyy nicer in Canada than in California. When I bought my 12 bags of ketchup chips, most of the people at the store didn't know that is a Canada-only product. They had Mountain Dew Energy, it tastes like regular, what's the difference? they also had caffeine-free MD; what's the point?

Only dark colored beverages are allowed to have caffeine. Regular mountain dew doesn't have a caffeine for this reason. The energy drink form is a work around the law since energy drinks are allowed to have caffeine.

That does sound like a stupid law.

My brother lives in New Smyrna Beach. He has the biggest table, so we all decided to go there. If anyone remembers, I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale (which would have been much closer than Annapolis), but oh well.
