Highly recommended. imdb - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1205489/ The main character is a hostile old war vet. The role is perfect for Clint Eastwood. But it's not your typical macho Eastwood movie. The movie is classic Eastwood in its attitude but nothing else. The tone of the movie is actually very bittersweet. The substance of this movie is mostly in its characterization and teachings. Eastwood is a hostile old man who is at odds with everyone. Throughout the movie everyone learns to like him. He befriends a troubled youth and teaches him to be a man. Then hostilities break out with a local gang. Eastwood is a total bad ass about it, keeping people in line. Then stuff gets really ****ed up and Eastwood is forced to end it once and for all. The ending is brilliant. The is an underlying Revolver-like message to the movie, but the delivery is much more digestible than Revolver. Revolver is an intellectual movie first and foremost, unlike Gran Torino which is meant to be enjoyed and not analyzed.
