Gas prices are unbelievable here. Last I filled the accord, we were up to $2.20 per gallon. Thank God for riding my motorcycle to work, I fill up once a week. How are the prices where you guys live?

California is the highest in the nation. It has been $2.50 here for a while (regular unleaded). Projections are saying $3.00 this summer.

Aren't we supposed to get cheaper oil from the Iraq thing?

Well, you guys are so phucking spoiled.
$2.20 per gallon is $0.58 per liter...
    $0.58 = 4.30 SEK

Wanna know the swedish price per litre? Somewhere around 10SEK, TWICE, what you pay.
So shut the phuck up and stop complaining. Deal with it.

I, unfortunatly, have to put premium in my car which absolutly destroys my bank account. It's about $2.20-$2.40. I hvae friend who work on farms and get their gas for, i think, around $ .40-.60 a gallon

We pay $2.67 USD per gallon in Canada or 95.9 cents per litre since you guys are still using imperial.

East coast of canada is actually paying $4.54 USD per gallon right now.

Also you guys get a huge proportion of your gas from us.

Gas in America is expensive compared to what is usually is, not compared to what it is in foreign countries. We don't care how it compares to Canada and Europe, it's still expensive.

I remember when it was 89 cents a gallon a few years ago. That was sweet.

Replace 'Americans' with ANY country/people and it still applies.

True. But I think Americas are more selfish than others. American is the king of capitalism, and capitalism is based on greed and selfishness. The farther to the right you go the less selfish the citizens become.

    I am greedy and selfish.

Everyone is greedy and self centered, America just has no qualms with letting people think that. Most other countries are just more subtle and downplay it.

Actually though, Americans give more to charity in both time volunteered and money than anywhere else in the world.

BTW Kraahl, if anything you bought on a regular basis doubled in price in less than a year you wouldn't be particularly happy either. So why should we stfu? Besides, this really isn't so much complaining as comparing! I know that we have low gas prices compared to most countries. In fact, in 1991 dollars, our prices now are less than they were in 1991. The numbers are just bigger.

Iraq actually controls a rather small amount of oil compared to some other middle-eastern countries. anyway, for reference, it's around $0.85/L in Toronto.

American gas prices have stayed as low as they have because we do something when prices rise, instead of just tolerating it.

although production and distribution are privately owned, growth is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a Free Market. Seems to me a pretty fair system, you only reap what you sow.

On another note, Here's a quick rundown of the countries with the largest oil resevoirs. Please note that I am talking about reserves, not resources. Resources are deposits in such forms and amounts that economic extraction is currently or potentially feasible. Reserves are the parts of which could not be economically extracted or produced at the time of determination considering environmental, legal, and technologic constraints.

    Saudi Arabia-256 bb
    Iraq-115 bb
    Kuwait-98.8bb
    United Arab Emirates-62.8 bb
    Russia-54.3 bb
    Venezuela-47.6
    United States-22 bb
    Canada-5.6 bb

Oh, but this something poses a serious threat to the environment and any decrease in its use is progress.
It will cause manufacturers to make better cars since people will request it with increasing gas prices. Perhaps gas-eating SUV-monsters will decrease in number.

I see many good effects of a higher gas price.
