I need to put a QuickTime movie on a site (not to be viewed, just to store it there) via ftp. Normally, (on a PC that is) I would type in ftp://blahblahblah.com log in, and drag/paste whatever I needed into the window. This method, however, does not seem to work on a mac, atleast not OS X. How would I go about ftping someting on OS X?

    ...

Works for me. You might need to put in the user ftp://user:password@site.com

I grabbed Fetch. When I click Put file and select the movie, and all that, instead of putting it on the site, I get a message saying Invalid number of parameters.

 i have no idea what that means. make sure the transfer type is set to binary (automatic mode should work too). i usually drag and drop the file onto the fetch window (same as "put").

Fetch hasn't been updated in like 4 years. I used it on my 5200.

Netfinder has been scientifically proven to be 10,000% superior.

The Netfinder site was down, so I got Captain FTP instead. When I tryed to copy the movies onto the site, Captain FTP gave me a message saying it couldn't read the files. Perhaps it has something to do with the file type. Both movies are .mov QuickTime files. Is there any reason FTP clients might dislike .mov files?

to do raw ftp from osx:

    go to terminal
    type ftp address.com
do the login and password thing
you should now have a ftp> prompt
cd to the directory into which you want to drop the file
    type "put "
go to mac desktop and drag the .mov file onto the term window
    you should see "put /path/file.mov"
add a space and the filename again
you should see "put /path/file.mov file.mov"
hit return and it should upload with same name
