I just finished reading Man of Two Worlds by Frank Herbert and Brian Herbert.

    lame.

Has anyone else read any books by either of them? My opinion from this one book is that they both suck

Frank Herbert the father Dune-writer, or is there a son named after him as well?

I suppose they both do suck, artistically. Dune may be enveloping, the guy's got a good imagination. However, is it really good because of how it's written, or is it good because we're all sci-fi fans and the weirdness is appealing? Everything not Dune that's at all related to Frank Herbert has been terrible from all I've heard...

I am trying to look at them aside from Dune.

I'm just saying, if you tried to re-examine Dune from a neutral perspective, would you really come off as thinking so highly of it? I'm just thinking this way because there's people like my mother that absolutely abhor it and other similiar niche works.
