In the previews before envy, they showed a teaser for the remake of Hero. Good casting and amazing martial arts. It's made by the same people that produced crouching tiger hidden dragon, so it should be pretty good.

    I disagree.

It sucked dubbed, but listening to it in Chinese (Mandarin?) was incredible. The music is really good too (I have the soundtrack on my iPod and listen to it on the bus sometimes).

That movie came out in 2002, they must just be bringing it to the US or something.

It was an absolutely incredible movie. However, the preview gives entirely the wrong impression of it. It's a really sad story, and the kung fu is more of the beautiful variety than the super action that the preview makes it out to be.

To continue the trend, here's another link:

Are they remaking the Jet Li movie Hero???
If they phuck that up I will be soooooo mad at them. The original IS a masterpiece.
And that Yahoo site claims he is seeking revenge for the killing of his people... I don´t recall any such thing.

The yahoo site is all lies, LIES I TELL YOU. The movie came out in 2002, it must just be getting released/rereleased in the US. It won best foreign picture when it came out if I remember correctly (I know it was nominated, and I think it won). And the plot synopsis is also all lies.

I don´t see why it needs a remake...

Edit... it doesn´t even seem to be a remake... who said it was a remake?

I said it was. There was an older kung fu movie with the same plot, but a weird chinese name like five fists of inermity or something along those lines. I'll look for a link.

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was OK, the same way I felt about CT,HD. I don't like the wire-fu stuff they do because it looks so fake. When they do the vertical flying it looks like they are ice-skating or something. I like the same action in most anime, but they haven't mastered live-action yet. It still reminds me of MMPR when they had to jump into their 'zords. I don't know what it is about it, but it looks dumb.

I did like most of the fight with Sky and the arrow blocking part and some other parts. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 4 stars (quite different than the 4 stars my newspaper gave it).

edit: I was happy it was subbed
