For my Engineering and Applied Sciences course, we're required to go through alot of stuff on Excell. Most of it's basic but there are some functions and other things that confuse the hell out of me and I don't get the point of. I'm stuck on this stupid thing right now because I don't know what it's supposed to be doing exactly and therefore I can't fix my problem.

Anyway, they tell me to make a matrix from A1 to C3 set up like this:
    Code:
     1 -1 2
     4 0 -1
    -8 2 -2
And then to select A1, B2, and C3 using ctrl-click. And then I go Insert->Name->Define, naming the group Diagonal. There's no problems with that but then it tells me to Insert->Name->Paste somewhere and whenever I do, there is a problem in the resulting cell. I realize this is pretty simple but the book isn't very descriptive and I've never used this command before and don't know what I'm supposed to get out of it. If you could tell me anything I might be doing wrong, I'd be very grateful.

It might be a cell reference error. Check the equation and see if it's referencing the correct cells.
