Has anyone tried D2 in classic mode?
Yes. If you run it in software mode it's actually not too horrible, but forget about RAVE. Not sure about OpenGL or anything else. Also, I could not get onto Battle.net in Classic. Not sure if this is fixed in 10.0.2 or not, I haven't tried it.
My advice: Save yourself the hassle and reboot into OS 9 to play D2. Hopefully Blizzard will Carbonize the thing at some point, but I am not holding my breath for that to happen any time soon.
If you have a multi-processor G4 with any of the nVidia cards, then OS X classic is the way to go, OpenGL should be fine (I think). If you have a single processor and/or a different graphics card then boot in OS 9.
ah yes, auto, the nVidia hater. How can you not like nVidia?
geforce3 - overhyped, supposed to come out on mac first.. yet the PC versions are shipping and gekko doesnt have his yet. nvidia's mac drivers are schmoo and they dont have support for OpenGL 1.2.1
any news on the carbonized thing? maybe coming with D2X?
i certainly hope so. of course, nothing official yet.
btw: thanx for the speedy nick thingy
