imac - eh.. s'ok
no powermacs? blegh
eh... I say DDR 1.4 Ghz Dual G4's... aaaand Steve will say that we will get ATI's R300 first and it will end up with us getting it like 4 months after the PC version is out
Apple's in a rut and they're just ****ing themselves by not bringing out new hardware. I can run Darwin on iX86 any day of the week...
Rumor has it that they aren't going to introduce powermacs at the expo. It might steal Jaguar's thunder or some **** like that.
Anyways, they will be released at some retarded special event in august.
if they release jaguar at macworld they will probably focus on how it increases performance to take attention away from the fact that there is a 1.5GHz gap between mac processors and pc processors now. i'm looking forward to jaguar, but i won't buy another pro tower until they close the GHz gap and get some hypertransport going.
whatever happened to apple using amd cpus? that would kick ass...
I don't see it happening. They run way too hot for iMacs without fans, and the power consumption is too much for Apple laptops (They like to be able to claim 5 hour battery life).
That's assuming that AMD makes x86 compatible chips which they cannot do for Mac. They would have to create a special Mac-style chip which may or may not be able to match the G3/4 for battery life, etc... Who knows?
Not to mention the entire system would have to be changed.
yay for apple
Exactly... 68k ---> PowerPC all over again.
Also AMD is not in the greatest financial position to start another chip line.
intel is dominating right now. unfortunately for apple, steve has been talking crap about pentiums for years. it wouldn't look good for them to start using P4 chips.
so steve jobs has dug a 17ft hole and forgot a ladder...
i must find myself a new avatar...
