    ok...just another bitch thread...
It's just that I just got done with my first calc test and completely bombed it. It's frustrating because I studied like made for this. I have never worked so hard for something and then be unable to do even marginally well. It doesn't help that this is the first time I have been in calc and seen this stuff and my prof nor TA feel like, idk, explaining what certain notations mean and how they got certain answers, etc. And so I go and get help and figure out what the notations mean and how they got certain answers. I do the homework and study and really feel like i know what is going on....then when I get into the test I see things that I didnt in the homework or in the book. The problems in the homework and in the book and that they demonstrated are so much easier than the ones on the test. God... this is my last math class ever and I just need to get through it.

Don't study, do problems, problems and more problems.

The thing about those tests is that at least in my experience they don't go off the questions that you have seen but rather the concepts that the questions you have seen inforce. You might want to look at the more abstract ideas rather than the direct questions when you study

Calc is hard at first, then it gets easier as you get more comfortable with it.

Then you get into Calc 2 and start doing integration techniques... that's when you have to do tons and tons of practice problems.

Yeah, when you do a problem step back and look at what the problem was asking you to do. Look at the big picture. They'll combine that with others into weird problems you've never seen before.
