bah, I always get them screwed up.

I'll agree that 9 was pretty dull, but I really enjoyed 8.
Of course I started the series with 7, so one of the earlier ones could really rock and make everything after it weak.

i found 8 boring but i played all the way through for lack of anything better to do, 9 had my interest until my memory card decided to delete my file 4 times in a row then i quit.. so i dusted off snes9x and played some FF3 (VI)

FF3 is by far the best in the series and my second favorite rpg. Although 7 wasn't too bad it was better then 8 and 9.
Also my avatar is a minotaur from The Dragonlance series of books.

It's like the developers were on some bad acid trip when they designed the game =D.

That game owned. It took me two solid weeks to finish it, but I did. :D That and Zelda (don't hit me!) were very good. I liked Castlevania too, but I sucked at it.

Zelda rocks (die hard Nintendo fan here ;)). Ocarina of Time was amazing, but Majora's Mask sucked, they used practically everything from OoT and just rewrote the story, practically nothing new :(. Aside from that, it was just short (I beat it inside a weekend). One of the gamecube launch titles is a zelda RPG; I saw a gameplay preview video of it, and it looked amazing. It showed Link fighting Ganondorf, their motions were amazingly lifelike, like watching a movie: hacking and slashing with swords, kicking each other around, etc.

Are you talking about the N64 games or the new GBC games?

Ya, I still really liked Ocarina of Time, it was somewhat revolutionary, Zelda having just come off the SNES. Although the "world" wasn't very big in either game.

bah, in my opinion all new final fantasy's suck. they're relying on 6 month ad campaigns and the success of their previous games to create another one of their "greatest hits". the only FF's i enjoy are IV for storyline and V for gameplay. i would prefer the Chrono series more, except that the two games have nothing to do with each other....nothing. now, the Secret of Mana series is better. if you can find a decent english patch for 2, they're great to play for the storyline. there, that's all i have to say on square.

oh, and carbuncal is in 8 and 9...

Diablo took over all my rpg interest that I only played 9 about once. played 8 about 4 times and 7 about 13.
