I have them both and to be honest I don't think that Appleworks is worth the disk it is printed on. It had great potential and fizzled really quick. Office X is a "good" value at 199$ if you can get the academic discount. Then again, if you are getting Appleworks for free it may be the way to go. Can't beat free. Or warz it like Cow said. There are copies out there somewhere.

After a few weeks of using Office X, I know I'll hate Apple Works. Microsoft has shipped one sweet piece of software. :D Maybe Apple Works 7 will change my mind, but I doubt it.

I never bought 6....or X for that matter, personally I hate Word, so I avoid using it whenever possible, but when you are going for cross platform compatability, AppleWorks, uh....just doesn't have it.

Word X is actually user friendly. It's the best word processor I've ever used. The new tool windows are so cool. Never have to open fonts or paragraphs controls again. I'll get a screen shot to show you what I mean. :)

    Behold! Word X!

Okay, read the text in the document window. I would have sent a .tiff, but the maximum attachment size is 256K, so I made a .jpg instead. :( I doesn't look as pretty as what I'm looking at here on my TiBook, but that's Jakeman's fault. :)
